Mean Arterial Pressure
Planned for launch
Mean arterial pressure (MAP) is the average pressure in the arteries over one heartbeat. The NurseTools MAP calculator estimates it from a systolic and diastolic reading and shows the formula it used.
The formula
MAP ≈ (SBP + 2 × DBP) ÷ 3, in mmHg.
What the tool does
- Systolic and diastolic inputs in mmHg.
- An input check: if diastolic is not lower than systolic, the app says so.
- The formula and its source one tap away.
- Version and review status on the tool page.

This tool is planned to be available in the free app at launch. NurseTools is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. The tool shows arithmetic and units. It does not interpret results or recommend care.

Questions
Is the MAP calculator free?
Yes. It is part of the free core app and is planned to be available at launch.
Is calculated MAP the same as arterial line MAP?
No. The formula is an estimate. An arterial line measures MAP directly, and the monitor value is the one your team uses.
Does the tool tell me what to do with a MAP value?
No. It shows the arithmetic only. Your facility protocols and provider orders guide care.
